Product Description Circular Polarizing Filters are used to increase color saturation, like darkening blue skies so that white clouds stand out. It eliminates reflections from non-metallic surfaces like glass and water. It helps reduce softness in scenery caused by atmospheric haze. This filter will not change the overall color balance of a photograph. Polarizers are commonly used to control glare on water and to allow the camera to see below the surface. They are also used to reduce glare on car bumpers and to control reflections on plate-glass windows. Polarizers are so versatile that they can perform the opposite functions as well. Some cinematographers use polarizers to increase or enhance reflections, simply by changing the filter?s setting. Circular refers not to the shape, but a special design that does not interfere with metering of auto exposure or auto focus systems There is virtually no limit to the new ways Directors of Photography find to use effective polarizers. A few examples of what they can do include: Darkening skies in color photography for dramatic impact. While graduated neutral density filters can also be used to achieve this effect, the need to position their transition line accurately precludes their use in many applications. Polarizers do not suffer from this limitation. Suppressing reflections and capturing truer color when filming actors through a windshield, and from other rigged-car camera positions. Greatly adding to the drama and appeal of the shot when photographing food (particularly meat or liquids). Increasing the color saturation of any object with a glossy surface. In summary, virtually any subject involving glare or reflections, or that is illuminated with specular light, can be improved through the skillful use of a quality polarizing filter.

| Customer Reviews: Great filter for the price July 15, 2009 Srini P (San Jose, CA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I was pleasantly surprised by the build quality for the price I paid. Can not find any other multi-coated lens in the price range. The frame is made of metal and has matte finish to prevent glare from the rim. I used it on Canon 28-55mm lens. Screws onto the lens effortlessly and stays tight. The screw ring rotates independent of the filter, like the more expensive filters. Worked like any other circular polarizer. It enhanced the blue sky color and cut down the reflection glare. A must have accessory when shooting in bright sunlight.
Not New as listed April 11, 2010 Richard F. Howland (San Francisco) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Filter case/box not sealed. Filter loose & had fingerprint and dirt on it. Probably a re-pack.
Very disappointed with Amazon. Will not purchase any more filters direct from Amazon.
If you have a decent camera you DON'T want this March 15, 2010 Bill (NM) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Arrived quickly, well packaged, smooth operation, but causes horribly blurred results. Whether manually or automatically focused the results are completely unacceptable. Cardboard disposable cameras with plastic lenses produce far sharper photographs than you can produce with this turkey in front of a $1000 lens. It is cheap (I use the term cheap advisedly) for a reason.
Waste of money August 14, 2009 W. Buhaimed 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
Opened the box to find the filter out of it`s container & very very dirty (Amazon to blame for this). Took me long time to get it cleaned & when I attached it to my lens, the pictures became very blurry. No matter I use Manual Focus or Auto Focus, all the pictures are blurry. I was expecting to lose some sharpness but not like this. This filter is completely useless & waste of time & money.
Buy a quality filter & dont go for such a cheap one. It will save you money on the long run.
