WAAAAAAY better than the shuffle, iPods inhale profusely in comparision October 25, 2009 Robert E. Mcalister (Jacksonville, FL, USA) 168 out of 181 found this review helpful
This is the perfect mp3 player. The fact that you can expand the memory to 18+ GB with an inexpensive microSD card??? holy cow. I used my wife's iPod shuffle before this, and there is no comparision, really. Except that this is 20-30% cheaper, and 1000% better. This has a built in customizable equalizer, something which the ipod did not. It has a screen similar to many expensive ipods that help you navigate the simple menus, although it does not play video ( I don't watch video when I work out, run, or mow the lawn). Battery life is great, and this isn't much larger than the shuffle. Clips on in the same fashion, weighs just as much, and the sound quality is phenomenal. It is a USB plug and play, so you can just drop and drag files to it. SOOOOO easy. No proprietary garbage software to use, like i-tunes. There is an option to sync playlists and things with Windows Media Player, but I haven't, and won't care to try. I just load all my favorite songs and randomly play the music. And now with Windows 7..hehe...Mac will dwindle back to fan-boy status and they'll have to start making cheaper, less proprietary hardware and software, or they will never survive. I'm Robert, and I'm a PC :)
Great MP3 Player and FM Radio January 11, 2010 Mary (CA USA) 38 out of 38 found this review helpful
This is my second Sansa Clip. The first is still in perfect cosmetic and working condition. I just wanted a new upgrade. I love the new features that Sansa has added. The ability to go as far as 18GB using the mini SD card! Awesome.
The sound quality is perfect. Reception on the radio is never a problem even when I am in locations with alot of interference.
Durability is great. I throw mine in my purse and it gets tossed around. My son uses it everywhere and is as careless with it as any 9 year old would be.
Adding MP3s is as easy as connecting the USB cable to your computer and dragging the file. All the MP3s are sorted alphabetically. I name my files numerically so that they will play in the order I would like.
Only Downside: Battery life is not perfect. It's what to be expected with electronics including my cell. A fully charged Sansa Clip will last me approx 6 hours throughout my workday. If I charge connecting the USB to the laptop I can't listen while charging. However, if I charge with the AC adaptor I can listen while charging. Also, even with the Sansa Clip turned off the battery will lose it's charge. A little annoying when I think it's fully charged and the battery is already drained. Again, I have these same problems with my cell phones.
I've never used IPODS and can't compare. However, this is a much less expensive music player. I have never thought I was trading quality to save money. This has always been a very good quality player.
Value, quality, great price, and best of all, NOT A MAC! February 2, 2010 Jason (Junction City, KS) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I give this 5 stars because it is so rare that you come across something that is so chock-full of value. No, it doesn't have a zillion bells and whistles like the (shudder) Ipod. It is SO much better. No, it doesn't have a video screen. I wanted something that plays music while I work out. My Ipod became "corrupted" and could not be used any more. Basically, it was a tad old and did not interface with the Ipod updates - or something like that. Yes, I tried the manual re-set thing. No success. I spoke to the Mac folks and they basically told me to go away and that I would have to buy a new one. Anyway, I was sick of the Itunes nonsense. I just wanted something that sounded good, could hold a fair bunch of tunes, and required no third-party software garbage. In less than 5 minutes, this thing was fully charged, had over 25 CDs of music on it (still about 30% of the disk available), and sounds REALLY great. I know this will seem blasphemous but, brace yourselves, it sounds BETTER than my IPOD. I was amazed at the sound power and quality. It even has a convenient little built-on clip that allows you to clip it to your shirt - so no expensive fancy-schmancy arm band needed. All this for under $40. I will NEVER buy an Ipod again.
Fun, easy to use, lots of features (sharp looking, too) October 30, 2009 Joseph P. Menta, Jr. (Philadelphia, PA USA) 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
I'm an MP3 novice, so don't expect a lengthy, nuanced review of the Sansa Clip Plus 2 that touches on eighteen different points of operation. I'll just report that this is the first MP3 player I ever owned and, with only a little help from a technology-savvy co-worker or two, I easily got it up and running and now regularly enjoy stress-free use. I mainly use this for audiobooks at the moment, but music sounds great on it, too (as I found out when sampling several songs already loaded on the device).
I like the idea of being able to buy expandable memory cards to vastly increase the amount of material the device will hold, and I also hope to try out some of the Sansa memory cards preloaded with a thousand songs each (pick your genre). The display on the Sansa Clip Plus 2 is sharp, bright and easy to navigate; the earbuds are light but provide rich sound; and the clip on the back of the tiny unit seems quite sturdy and shouldn't break even with repeated use.
When it comes to electronic gadgets you might want to take my opinion with a grain of salt, but for what it's worth, so far I think this is a great little device at a great price.
Clip+ - Outstanding! December 19, 2009 Bruce C. Eaton 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
The Sansa Clip+ is fifth mp3/media player I've owned. It is by far the best. I listen primarily to podcasts. It has both a fast-forward and extra-fast forward. Great for speeding through sections of an hour long mp3. It holds your place where you stop; even if you switch to another mp3, listen to FM, or even if you load new material it allows you to resume listening where you left off. Like other Sansa players, it has an equalizer. Preferred over the usual gimmicky tone presets. The firmware was clearly written by users of the product. Menus are thorough and easy to learn.
Clip +; Highly recommended.
